COURSE OVERVIEW: The instructor development course is designed to assist in the development of L.E. Officers who can return to their organizations as instructors & subject matter experts. Attendees will increase their ability & effectiveness to instruct others within a practical L.E. – specific context. Students in the course will be expected to conduct two “teach backs” of learned & designed material to the instructor(s) & complete the course successfully. Students must conduct the teach-backs & pass a written exam to complete the course successfully.
Attendees will also be taught classroom instructional methods & how to effectively teach academic & physical skills to adult learners relevant to the dynamic police operational environment & their agency needs. This is an interactive course where students actively participate in the learning environment created by experienced instructors.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Identify the goal of creating a teaching model to successfully & effectively train police officers to perform competently in a L.E. field context. Understand & apply the concepts of adult learning. Recognize & understand the characteristics of adult learners. Identify & employ instructional strategies that promote adult learning. Understand the unique variables of teaching & learning in L.E., amongst other objectives.

You may also fill out and submit our online registration form through the website at www.letac.org or call 217-726-7014 to register by phone (be sure to include all pertinent information). MTU #10 local member department officers will be given registration preference until seven days prior to the date of class. After that date, registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of MTU status. We cannot accept registrations from individual officers. All registrations must go through your Chief, Sheriff, or department training office, even if you are attending class on your own time.

Cancellation: If a class must be canceled for any reason, every effort will be made to do so at least 2 weeks before the class is scheduled to begin. However, there are circumstances where last minute cancellation is out of our control. All officers who have been registered for training will be contacted at the email address given at registration, so please be sure to provide an email address which is checked often
