This training covers the following mandates:
De-escalation Techniques 0.50 hours
Officer Safety Techniques, Including Cover, Concealment, and Time 22.00 + 2.75hrs scenario hours
Procedural Justice 2.00 hours
Identify the I.F.O.C.T.I. (s) primary responsibilities including ensuring each participant’s personal safety; development of the Survival Mindset, proper use of training equipment, Control Tactics maneuvers, and Control Tactics knowledge; and maintaining a commitment to continual personal development in the areas of functional performance, defensive skills, training materials, and facilitation skills
Ensure that professionalism, accountability, and acute awareness of current or revised local or Departmental policies and laws related to regulations governing use of force are maintained in order to provide an effective Control Tactics training program through the completion of I.F.O.C.T.I. program.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Upon completion of this training, each I.F.O. Control Tactic Instructor participant will be able to:
1. Understand the requirements for becoming a certified Integrated Force Options
Control Tactics Instructor and maintaining certification.
2. Understand the philosophy of the Integrated Force Options Control Tactics System, The principles of the I.F.O. Control Tactics Triangle, Survival Mindset, Awareness Spectrum, Human Factors, Verbal De-escalation.
3. The importance of the Clock Principle. Demonstrate an understanding of Relative Position, Stances, Mobility, Angles of Attack, Bio-Kinetic/attribute development drills, transition drills. Demonstrate upper and lower body defensive counter measures, cuffing techniques, searches, weapon retention (in-holster /unholstered), ground defense / escapes, expandable baton, and edge weapon / impact weapon awareness and countermeasures.
4. Manage and maintain a safe Control Tactics Class, by demonstrating an awareness and ability to safely set-up Reality- Based Training Drills., adhere to Control Tactics Training Rules during practical / reality-based training, and receiving “accomplished” marks during the Control Tactics Instructor evaluation process.
5.Assume the position of C.T.I., displaying leadership qualities that command respect and authority when delivering commands and overseeing the class during practical / reality-based training by receiving “accomplished” marks during the evaluation process.
6. Demonstrate the ability to identify and correct Control Tactics physical skills
errors and assessing failures to complete during practical participation.
7. Pass the written exam at no less than 70%.

MTU #10 local member department officers will be given registration preference until seven days prior to the date of class. After that date, registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of MTU status. We cannot accept registrations from individual officers. All registrations must go through your Chief, Sheriff, or department training office, even if you are attending class on your own time.
