Course Objectives:

This five (5) day school, held at the Springfield Police Academy, is an introductory Observer/Sniper course for full-time Police Officers who are current members of their department's SWAT/Tactical Team.

The school is very demanding both in the classroom and on the range. Lectures will cover understanding the role of a Police Sniper, rifle nomenclature, maintenance, use of data book, ballistics, camouflage, observation and reporting, and use of Ranging Reticles. Shooting courses will include running and physical activity which requires the Officer to be in good physical condition.

The Officer will be required to bring a rifle that is capable of shooting a 1" group at 100 yards.  A quality scope with a ranging style reticle.  Further, all Officers must bring all their regular Observer/Sniper gear. 350 rounds of "match grade" ammunition, 50 rounds of pistol ammunition and 40 rounds of patrol rifle ammunition.

In order to successfully complete the school, the Officer must attend the entire course, shoot a qualifying score and pass a written exam.
